CLINTON — John M. Bingiel, Jr., 68, of Clinton, passed away at 2:03 p.m. on July 24, 2022, at Carle BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, Ill.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, assisted the family with cremation rites.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

John was born on January 6, 1954, in Weirton, W.Va., the son of John M. and Audrea Jane (Brown) Bingiel, Sr.  He married Marianne Kohring on March 17, 1984, at Funks Grove, McLean, County, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Marianne Bingiel, Clinton; son, Jonathan S. Bingiel, Clinton, and daughter, Chelsea L. (Josh Gordon) Bingiel, Madison, Wis.; two sisters and two brothers.  One niece and several nephews also survive.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

John was retired.  He enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Stealers and the Chicago Cubs.  One of John’s favorite pastimes was listening to NPR in the garage.
