CLINTON – Joseph Vernon Mandrell, 74, of Clinton, passed away on Friday, January 12, at his residence.
Joe was born in Clinton, the son of Lloyd and Louisa (Matheny) Mandrell. He married RuthAnn Florey on November 10, 1962, in DeWitt. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2017, in Bloomington.
Surviving are their children, Jim (Sharon) Mandrell and Sharon Day, both of Clinton; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Ollie (Kay) Mandrell; and a sister, Poge (Charles) Alwood, all of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Donald Mandrell; and two sisters, Linda Mandrell and Sue Robison.
Joe started working at Revere Copper and Brass in 1963 and continued to work there for over 50 years. He loved woodworking, bird houses, and especially traveling to Tucson, Arizona. He also had a passion for photography. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Per Joe’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private memorial service will be at a later date at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
