FISHER — On a cold and dreary Saturday morning, March 18, the Clinton Lady Maroons began their season facing the ever tough Fisher Lady Bunnies. (Their mascot is a misleading moniker.)
The game started with the Bunnies taking a 4-2 lead in the second inning. Clinton then opened up and scored 3 in the third and one in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.
Fisher then topped the Lady Maroons by one, scoring 3 in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning the Lady Maroons tied the game at 7-7.
The 7th inning was harrowing, but the Clinton team held Fisher from scoring. Tori Wilson then came up for the Lady Maroons and blasted a triple to right field, followed by a walk-off double by Zoie Polen to win the game 8-7.
The Lady Maroons are 1-0 for the season. The Lady Maroon junior varsity followed with a very discouraging 16-5 loss to the Lady Bunnies.
