Lady Maroons finish regular season 13-3

CLINTON — The Lady Maroons varsity began last week by destroying the Lady Blue Devils at home before dominating the St. Teresa Lady Bulldogs on Saturday to wrap up their regular season play with a 13-3 record

Monday, March 8, saw the Villa Grove/Heritage Blue Devils come to play basketball againt the Lady Maroons.   The outcome of this match-up was apparent from the start with the Lady Maroons commanding the game with a 16-4 first quarter. 

At halftime, the home team was leading 33-7 and using all their players in rotation.  The only Lady Maroon not scoring was point guard Bethany Overby who, along with the coaches, orchestrated an effective game plan. 

Coming onto the floor after halftime, the Lady Maroons took the third quarter with a 23-3 run.  The home team then slowed the pace, holding the Lady Blue Devils to no points while dropping in 11 more points of their own. 

The Lady Maroons took this outing 67-10. 

The Lady Maroons were led by Kaitlyn Rauch with 19 points followed by Mallory Cyrulik with 14 points.  The Lady Maroons popped five 3-point shots spread among 3 players, Raya Swartz (3); Alaina Soberalski (1); and MaKayla Koeppel (1). 

On Saturday, the varsity sent the Lady Bulldogs home limping. Lady Maroons’ offense and defense controlled the game throughout against the 5-7 St. Teresa team.

Lady Maroons won 57-24.

Lady Maroons’ Kaitlyn Rauch led Saturday scoring with 20 points.  Raya Swartz had 15 points, while Mallory Cyrulik contributed 14 points.
