Lady Maroons get uplifting win after rough season

CLINTON — On Monday, October 23, the Lady Maroons began play in the Rochester class 3A regionals against the Springfield Lanphier Lady Lions.
The meeting went well for the Lady Maroons as they took down the Lady Lions in 2 straight sets, 25-18 and 25-8. In the match, for the Lady Maroons, Alyssa Saulsbery and Claudia Workman each had 4 kills; Raymi Dial and Delaney Woodbury each had 3 aces; Woodbury had 10 assists with Madi Filkin adding 7 assists; and Dial had 20 digs while Maggie Werts had 11 digs.
In the following match on Tuesday, the Lady Maroons were not as lucky, losing to Mt. Zion in straight sets 25-17, 25-17 to get knocked out of the play-offs.
Nevertheless, the Lady Maroons had a great finish to a rough season and look to an improved season next year, building on their final wins to end this season.
As a side note, the Mt. Zion Lady Braves went on to win the Rochester Regional Championship and were cruising through the sectionals.
