SULLIVAN — Along with the baseball team, the softball team from Clinton High School traveled to Sullivan for a game on Monday, April 17.
The Lady Maroons took command of their game early, scoring one run in the first inning, then another in the third for a 2-0 lead. The fifth inning was tough for both teams as Clinton scored 2 in the top of the inning and Sullivan came back with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at four all.
The game then became a pitchers’ duel until the ninth inning, when the Lady Maroons were able to squeeze out one more run and hold for the 5-4 win.
Olivia Sanders pitched all nine innings for Clinton while Aspyn Taylor, Amanda Tool and Tori Wilson each had two hits apiece.
