CLINTON — On the last day of November, the Lady Maroons hosted the Shelbyville Lady Rams on the home hardwood. The home team began with the junior varsity loading up on the Lady Rams.
After disappointing losses to the Lady Hornets of Heyworth, the Lady Maroons were pumped. The home team effectively used the press and fast breaks to rattle the Lady Rams. Clinton completely flustered Shelbyville by taking them out of their game plan and overwhelming them.
The Lady Rams scored their first 2 points with 2:45 left in the first half. There was no question about who would win all evening as the Lady Maroons had an easy go, scoring at will and Shelbyville not hitting well. The final tally had Clinton winning 60-8.
In the varsity matchup, the going was a little tougher for the home team but not much. The Lady Maroons varsity used ball control and some great inside rebounding to keep the Lady Rams off balance. The home team led 22-4 at the end of the first quarter, and 30-10 at the half to keep the Lady Rams at bay. From there the Lady Rams could not recover in the second half, scoring only a dismal (and unlucky) 13 points while the home team poured in 24 more points for a 54-23 win.
Clinton goes into the holiday break season with renewed confidence.
