Lady Maroons swimmers compete in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE — The Lady Maroons swim team was in action on Monday, Oct. 11, at Illinois College, swimming against Jacksonville H.S. and Jacksonville Routt Catholic H.S. 

This was the second meet of the season and the first as a team.  The 200yd Freestyle Relay (Ella Steward, Addie Koritz, Grace Dempsey, & Jessica West) took first place.   The 200yd Medley Relay (Chloe Barth, Jessica West, Erica Mills, and Grace Dempsey) and the 400yd Freestyle Relay (Grace Dempsey, Addie Koritz, Lexi Lord, and Ella Steward) each brought home 2nd place. 

Individual contributors to the team scores were:

• Jessica West – 1st place 100yd freestyle and 2nd place in the 50 yd freestyle

• Addie Koritz – 2nd place in the 100 freestyle and 3rd place in the 100yd backstroke

• Erica Mills – 2nd place in the 500 yd freestyle and 3rd place in the 50 freestyle

• Ella Steward – 4th place in the 200yd freestyle and 4th place in the 100yd breaststroke

• Lexi Lord – 4th place in the 50yd freestyle

• Chloe Barth – 6th place in the 200yd freestyle

• Grace Dempsey – 7th place in the 100 freestyle

“These girls continue to get better in the pool” said head coach Tracy Karr. 

The team is looking forward to their next swim meet on October 26, at Olympia High School.
