CLINTON — On Thursday, January 20, the Lady Maroons were at home once again for games against the Shelbyville Lady Rams.

The Lady Maroons have been on a tear lately and were out to continue their run on this evening.

As usual, the junior varsity (JV) teams took to the hardwood first and found the Lady Rams were here to play and not let the Mighty Lady Maroons run over them.  The visitors took the early lead with a 5-2 first quarter.

The Lady Maroons battled back on good, all-around shooting and hard defense to tie the game 11-all at halftime.  Both defenses were stingy, but the Lady Maroons were able to gain a 2-point lead in the third quarter and hold it through to the end, adding another point in the final quarter.

The Lady Maroons won the JV game 23-20.  Clinton was led by Alaina Soberalski (#24)with 8 points (including two 3-pointers and scoring the only home team points in the fourth quarter) and Regan Filkin (#3) with 7 points.

The Lady Maroons varsity came out strong in the first quarter with an explosion of offense and a consuming defense.  The score at the end of one quarter was 13-2 in favor of the home team, with Mallory Cyrulik (#4) scoring 11 of the 13 points.

At the half, the Lady Maroons were still up 27-13, gaining another point in the second quarter.  Coming out of the locker room after the halftime break, the Lady Rams were like a different team.

The opposition went on a 19-6 run to pull within one point of the Lady Maroons.  The home team then regained their composure and lit up the nets with 3-point shots by Kaitlyn Rauch (#11) and Heidi Humble (#2) to help lead the Lady Maroons to a 46-41 win.

This gives the Lady Maroons a 22-4 overall season and 5-0 in conference play.  The varsity team was led by Mallory Cyrulik (#4) with 20 points and Kaitlyn Rauch (#11) with 14 points.
