Bayleigh Holmes, 21, Clinton, was issued a citation for Speeding (77 mph in a 55 mph zone). Holmes was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Dakota Moyer, 18, Clinton, was issued Citations for Failure to Reduce Speed/Accident; Operating Uninsured Vehicle. Moyer was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Rita Roberts, 55, Mahomet, was issued a Citation for Speeding (79 mph in a 55 mph zone). Roberts was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Justice Hancock, 20, Maroa, was issued a Citation for Operating Vehicle W/O Registration. Hancock was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Shelton Bratcher, 61, Decatur, was issued a Citation for Speeding (75 mph in a 55 mph zone). Bratcher was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred 7/1/20 at 1244 revealed that Robert Hassler, 76, Princeton, was traveling westbound on Hickory St. in Wapella, approaching US Hwy 51, northbound lines. Miel Diaz, 39, Decatur, was traveling north on US Hwy 51, in the northbound driving lane of traffic, approaching the intersection of US Hwy 51 N/B and Hickory St. in Wapella. Diaz had the right of way. Hassler did not see Diaz approaching the intersection and proceeded to pull into the driving lane of US Hwy 51 N/B lanes, while initiating a right turn. While doing so, Hassler’s front end struck the passenger side of Diaz’ vehicle. Diaz’ vehicle spun out and turned backwards, facing south and came to rest in the median. Diaz’ vehicle was towed from the scene. Hassler, was issued a Citation for Failure to Reduce Speed/Accident. Hassler was given a Notice to Appear and was released. Diaz was issued a Citation for Operating Uninsured Vehicle. Diaz was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Daphne Maurer, 45, Champaign, was issued a Citation for Speeding (79 mph in a 55 mph zone). Maurer was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Christa Parson, 39, Lincoln, was issued a Citation for Speeding (84 mph in a 55 mph zone). Parson was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Investigation in to the scene of an accident which occurred on 7/7/20 at 1403 revealed that Ruby Smith, 72, Clinton, was stopped at the intersection of Main Street, Wapella and US 51. , preparing to turn south on US 51. Craig Dennett, 46, Gardner, was southbound on US 51, in the passing lane. As Dennett approached the intersection with Main Street, Smith entered the intersection, striking the towed portion of Dennett. Smith stated she believed Dennett was in the driving lane of US 51 and proceeded into the intersection. Dennett stated Smith pulled into the intersection, and he was unable to merge to the other lane, due to other traffic. The crash caused damage to the front end of Smith’s vehicle and down the driver side of the towed portion of Dennett’s vehicle. Smith was issued a Citation for Fail to Yield. Smith was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Michael Dupin, 44, Waynesville, was arrested on a DeWitt County Warrant charging him with Aggravated Domestic Battery/FTA. Dupin posted the necessary bond and was released.

Ronald Hobbs, 29, Champaign, was issued a Citation for No Valid Driver’s License. Hobbs was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Diamonika Nsona, 20, Normal, was arrested on a DeWitt County Warrant charging her with Speeding 26-34 MPH Over Limit/FTA. Nsona posted the necessary bond and was released.

Madison Blaine, 18, Cowden, was issued a Citation for Speeding (79 mph in a 55 mph zone). Blaine was given a Notice to Appear and released.

Patricia Robbins, 67, Saybrook, was issued a Citation for Speeding (80 mph in a 55 mph zone). Robbins was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Tiann Austin, 19, Clinton, was issued a Citation for No Valid Driver’s License. Austin was given a Notice to Appear and was released.

Jeremy Cyrulik, 48, Clinton, was issued a Citation for Possession Adult Use Cannabis Passenger. Cyrulik was given a Notice to Appear and was released.
