CLINTON — Local attorney Stephanie L. Scoles announced this week she would run for DeWitt County State’s Attorney in the 2020 election.

“My family and I are proud to call DeWitt County our home,” Scoles said. “I am honored to have spent the majority of my legal career in DeWitt County working with its citizens and the surrounding counties. As your next State’s Attorney, I will use my extensive legal knowledge and discretion to serve the county in a professional and judicious manner as the citizens of DeWitt County deserve.”

Scoles plans to seek the Republican nomination for state’s attorney in the March 17, 2020 primary.

She is a central Illinois native and 1993 graduate of Clinotn High School.  She graduated from Millikin University and The University of Dayton School of Law.

Scoles received her license to practice law in 2000.  She became a member of the Supreme Court Bar in April 2019.

She spent time as a member of Taylor, Kuntz & Rudasill law firm, the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office and six years as a family law attorney in McLean County before opening her own law offices in August 2010.

Scoles resides in Clinton with her husband of more than 14 years, Kevin. Their family includes Kevin’s son, Kyle Scoles and his wife Keri Martin Scoles, attending ISU and Lincoln College respectively; Stephanie’s son, Ryan Kuntz, who works at Dynagraphics in Decatur; and herdaughter, Kaitlyn Kuntz, attending Richland Community College.
