CLINTON — DeWitt County Coroner, Randy J. Rice, has identified the person who drowned in Clinton Lake on Tuesday as Alan W. Bell, 65, of Clinton. Bell was pronounced dead at 10:40 a.m. on. September 21, at the Valley Mill Fishing Access. The truck that Alan was driving went partially down an embankment at the lake. Alan exited the truck from the passenger side, and he slipped into the lake, Rice reported.
At about 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, emergency personnel were called to Valley Mill Fishing Access Area, located on the east end of Clinton Lake, to respond to a report of a truck in the water and the body of a person floating nearby. Dispatchers later reported there was a person in the water, unknown condition.
The Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) used sonar equipment in the water around the area but did not locate anything additional.
