CLINTON — A celebration for Marilyn North’s 90th birthday will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 in the Revere Room of Vespasian Warner Public Library.
Marilyn was born on March 13, 1929, in Fulton, Ill., and moved to Clinton with her family when she was 6 years old. She married Raymond North in 1948. They have two children, Lynda and Kirby, seven grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
After graduation, Marilyn worked at State Farm Insurance, General Telephone Company and was unit stock officer at Montgomery Ward & Company. A few years later, she helped establish the North Fertilizer Service with her husband. Marilyn opened the Clinton Antique Mall in 1990, which is now in its 28th year.
Marilyn and Raymond traveled and visited 13 countries and several islands in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.
Marilyn has been interested in saving the history and memories of DeWitt County. She was a member of the DeWitt County Restoration Association (DCRA) and helped in the restoration of the clock on Mr. Lincoln’s Square. She was a member of the Business Women’s Professional Organization (BPO) for 27 years and the Mid-State Coin Club. Marilyn is now a member of the Apple ‘n Pork Festival tram committee. She enjoys antiquing, playing cards and her grandchildren.
