Maroons golfers in action in Farmer City, Eureka

FARMER CITY/EUREKA —  On Sept. 5, the girls and boys golf teams split for different tournaments. 

The boys were involved in a quad meet at Blue Ridge (Farmer City) with Tri-Valley, Fisher, and Blue Ridge.  The team did well, taking first with a score of 164.  Tri-Valley was second, 10 shots back with Fisher scoring 186 and Blue Ridge scoring194. 

Individually, the Maroons were on point with Brooks Cluver as medalist with a school record tying score of 32 (Matt Michael scored 32 in 1982).  Aiden Toohill scored 41 followed by Ashton Douglas at 45, Cole Fentress at 46, Brikey Carter at 50 and Ryan Pine at 52.

The girls team didn’t fair as well as a team but had good scoring at the Eureka Coach Cool Classic. 

Fieldcrest was first with a 199 score, Eureka took second at 201, Olympia was third at 206 and Clinton was fourth with a score of 208.  The ladies were close, missing 3rd by two strokes and second by seven strokes.  Sarah Mills took fourth place shooting a 47, followed by Carley Earle with a 53 (9th place).  Leah Mills shot a 54 (her personal best score ever) with Grace Gates shooting a 54 and Emma Sanders shooting a 56.
