CLINTON — The Clinton Maroons have returned with a new season, a new coach, and, hopefully, down the road, a lot of wins. Coach Ron Bass did not promise a winning season to start but is building the team for the future.
The team’s first outing (an away game at Lincoln against the Railers) was a tough loss to start a new season. However, the team came home to Sprague Field and handily took the second game from the Argenta/Oreana Bombers.
Clinton kicked off to the Bombers to start the game and then pushed all the way back to the goal line in several plays and scored 2 points on a touchback. From there, it was basically all Maroons who had a touchdown (TD) in the first quarter to go with the touchback, two TD’s in the second quarter, one Td on an interception in the third quarter and a final TD in the last quarter.
