CLINTON — The Clinton Maroons’ regular season ended with a home game against the Warrrensburg/Latham Cardinals.
With a win, the Maroons would go over .500 for the season and in conference play.
The game began with the opposition scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning on two doubles and a single, and then adding another run in the top of the second on a home run.
The day looked gloomy for the home team. Then, in the bottom of the second inning, the Maroons came alive with a walk and four singles to score 5 runs.
With a new pitcher on the mound starting in the third inning, the Maroons held the Cardinals scoreless for the remainder of the game. While doing this, the Maroon bats again came alive in the sixth inning for another 3 runs on a single, a walk, a fielders choice and an error.
This gave the home team an 8-3 win, third place in the Central Illinois Conference with an 8-6 record. Josh Carter was the Maroon starter with Brooks Cluver (1-1) coming on in relief and getting the win.
