CLINTON — On Tuesday, the Maroons junior varsity (JV) faced down the Meridian Hawks. Meridian was cold, as was the weather, and could not muster any offense and very little defense.
The Maroons began with 4 runs on 2 hits in the first inning, then took a 2 inning break in their offense. However, the Maroons were not finished, adding five more runs on 4 hits in the fourth.
In the fifth, the home team came close to finishing the game with men on second and third, but no run crossed the plate. The sixth inning brought satisfaction, though, as Ezra Eveland made it to first on a Hawk throwing error to score Michael Oswald for the 10-run rule win.
Drew Stacey (pitched 3 1/3 innings)took the win for the Maroons with excellent relief pitching from Michael Oswald (pitching 2 2/3 innings). Oswald, Stacy, and Garrett Wayne each had 2 hits for the Maroons while Braden Cross had 3 RBIs and Wayne and Nolyn Wharton each had one RBI. The ending score, 10-0.
