CLINTON — On Saturday, March 26, the Clinton Maroons and Lady Maroons sent four competitors to the Top Times State Indoor Championships.  These individuals competed against all the top athletes in Class 24 track in the state.

For the Lady Maroons, there was Payne Turney competing in the 800 meter run.  Payne finished 7th overall with a time of 2 minutes 21.04 seconds, breaking her own school record of 2 minutes 23.88 seconds.

Madi Filkin leapt into action in the 60 meter high hurdles coming in 20th, but also breaking her own school record of 10.11 seconds by running a 10.01 second race.

Finally for the Lady Maroons was Claudia Workman, who has been a force in the shot put for quite a while.  Claudia missed her best throw of 36’ 11”, but still placed 10th in the competition throwing 36’2”, which is about two feet past last years 34’5”.

For the Maroons track team, Austin Rauch qualified in the high jump.  Austin has cleared 6’3” this indoor season for his personal best.  He fell 2 inches short in this competition, however, he was ranked 12th in 2A track and finished 7th, for a jump in rankings.

The coaches of the track teams said they were excited about these competitors and the rest of the teams as they progress throughout the season as athletes are stepping into different role to fill in for those who graduated from last seasons teams.
