Maroons’ wrestlers endure tough triangular

CLINTON — The evening before their own holiday tournament, the Maroons ran into some tough opposition in their triangular opponents.

The first opponent was the Normal Community Ironmen, known as a real powerhouse team.  And on the night they lived up to the hype.

Wes Harrold was the only Maroons wrestler to pin an Ironman, and there were only a couple of other wins.

This gave the Ironmen a 57-11 win over the home grapplers.  The middle round of bouts matched the Ironmen against the Lincoln Railsplitters (or Railers as they like to refer to themselves).  The Railers did not fair well against the Ironmen, losing 53-7.

The last round of matches had the two defeated teams facing each other.  This round went down to the wire where the last match was the decider.

The Maroons could not come up with a pin, and even thought they won the bout, they lost the match by one point, 38-37 to the Railers.
