CLINTON — On the Saturday before Christmas, the Clinton Maroons wrestling team hosted its annual wrestling tournament.  This was the 51st year of the Holiday Clinton Invitational Tournament.

There were 10 teams from Central Illinois and one from Tennessee in attendance, and they were all ready to rumble.  The event began at 9 a.m. and went for five hours.

The Maroons came in fourth overall, one point behind Ridgeview in third, and 4 points behind El Paso/Gridley in second.  So, the home team did well in its tournament.  Decatur MacArthur took top honors this year.

As for individuals, the Maroons had six wrestlers place in the top five in their weight classes and reach the podium.  Listed in weight class order, Riece McCormack placed 4th at 106 lbs., Deegan Eveland took 2nd place at 132 pounds, Trevor Willis placed third place at 138 pounds, Wes Harrold took the championship in the 152- pound weight class, Kaeden Sloat placed third at 170 pounds, and Brett Reeves took the championship at 220.
