CLINTON — Marvin E. Karr, 91 of Clinton, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on March 24, 2017, at the Warner Hospital and Health Services, Clinton.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Clinton United Methodist Church with J. Kent Hickerson officiating.  Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 1–3 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.  The family requests casual, St. Louis Cardinals attire.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Warner Hospital and Health Services nursing and respiratory departments.

Marvin was born on May 7, 1925, in Wapella, the son of George W. and Eunice Marie (Hickman) Karr. He married Betty Thayer on June 22, 1948, in Wapella.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Karr, Clinton; daughters, Mary (Bill) Murphy, Wapella; Kathy (Steve Best) Buggar, Clinton; 11 grandchildren,  Jim (Kelly) Murphy; Carron (Mike) Hospelhorn; Kristi (Lance) Tynan; Tara (Dave) McNutt; Kimberly (Jeremy) Holmes; Mark Ryan Karr Murphy; Jay Karr; Barbara Karr, Jessica Karr ; Michael Karr; Jeffery Karr and their families; 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Kenneth and Karry Karr; and twin brother, Melvin Karr.

Marvin was a WW II, U.S. Army veteran, receiving the Purple Heart and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He farmed and then worked at Lincoln State School, at Wallace Press, and later was a greeter at Wal-Mart.
