WELDON — Mary Carolyn Lubbers, 71, of Weldon, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on February 3, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Weldon United Methodist Church, Weldon, with Rev. John Baylor and Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Weldon United Methodist Church or Carle Hospice.

Carolyn was born on December 23, 1946, in Monticello, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Mary (Milligan) Dressler.  She married Terry L. Lubbers on September 4, 1966 in Weldon.

Survivors include her husband, Terry L. Lubbers, Weldon; children: Cynthia (James) Megenhardt, St. Elmo, Ill.; and Mark (Tena Moore) Lubbers, Champaign, Ill.; three grandchildren:  Hannah, Mary, and John David, St. Elmo, Ill.; sister, Margaret Baylor, Decatur, Ill.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Roger and Timothy. 

Carolyn worked at Parkland College from 1974 – 1978 and worked at the Peoples’ State Bank in Weldon.  She continued working at Parkland’s bookstore.  

She loved being a homemaker and raising a family.  Carolyn enjoyed walking.  She was involved with being a 4-H leader in Weldon, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and Decatur Walk for the Cure.  The Weldon United Methodist Church was very important to her where she was a “soul winner” for Christ, and she loved being part of funeral dinners.
