CLINTON — Max Terry Rockhold, 82, of Clinton, passed away at 4 a.m. on August 31, 2017, at his family residence, Clinton.

 Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at McCord Cemetery, DeWitt, Ill., with military honors. Visitation will be 5–7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Autism Speaks or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Max was born on July 15, 1935, in Farmer City, Ill., the son of Wayne and Iola (Basom) Rockhold. He married Sandra Baker on August 12, 1958, in Kingsville, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Rockhold, Clinton; son, Martin (Cynthia) Rockhold, Clinton; daughter-in-law, Kristi Rockhold, Justin, Texas; grandchildren,  Jamie Rockhold, Normal, Ill.; Jacob Rockhold (fiancé, Kristina Joseph), Peoria, Ill.; Jessica Summers, Dallas, Texas; Raniyah and Zachary Rockhold, Justin, Texas; and great-granddaughter, Sophia Summers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and Marc Rockhold; and two brothers, Don and Joe Rockhold.

Max graduated from Moore Township High School, Farmer City, in 1953.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 onboard the U.S.S. Philippine Sea. His final station was based in Kingsville, Texas.  Max graduated from Illinois Commercial College, Champaign, Ill., in 1961.

He was a member of the DeWitt County Board for several years and served as the chairman in 1986.

Max retired from the Secretary of State Business Services Department and played a key role in establishing Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) in Illinois.  For many years, he owned his own businesses, including real estate and income tax offices.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors.  Max was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed attending school and sports activities.
