CLINTON — Memorial Day observance is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 29, in Woodlawn Cemetery. This will be the 149th year for the local event.
Chief Petty Officer Krystal Cicenas will offer the address of the day.
This year, parking will be available at the First Christian Church with van shuttle rides to and from the cemetery. In case of rain, the services will be held at the First Christian Church.
Veterans who would like to march to the Civil War plot at the cemetery during services will line up at the north end of Woodlawn Cemetery.
The wreath-presenting ceremony, young people decorating graves and Boy/Cub Scouts participation will also take place. Volunteers of the Clinton High School band will perform.
Children who wish to participate in grave decorating may gather at the gate. Any who do not have flowers; flowers will be provided.
After the observances, at about 11:30 a.m., dinner will be provided at the American Legion and at the VFW, both by donation only.
