CLINTON — Michael J. Maher 75 of Clinton, Ill. passed away at 2:55 p.m. on October 31, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Fr. James Henning celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.

Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.

Michael was born on July 5, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of John G. and Margaret (Milligan) Maher.

Survivors include his children,  Troy (Terrie) Swan, Astoria, Ill.; Monty (Sherrie) McCombs, Lewistown, Ill.; Kelly (Michael) Erke, Danville, Ill.; Martin Maher, Jefferson City, Mo.; and Maggie (Casey) Holland, Clinton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren,  Amy, Christopher, Marissa, Chase, Chelsey, Casey, Molly, Bridget, Raegan, and Harper; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Hemmersmeir, St. Louis, Mo.; Joan (Jim) Scott, St. Louis, Mo.; and Kathleen (Vito) Adamos, St. Louis, Mo.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother and one sister.

Michael served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Ameren Illinois Power Co. for 36 yrs. retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Elks Lodge Clinton, Il. and Osage Beach, MO
