CLINTON — The Miller Container facility will officially close this month, a representative for the company told the Clinton Journal Thursday morning.
The facility, which was converted to a distribution center in 2017, will close in November, and its employees will be offered the opportunity to apply for open positions at the company's Rock Island, Ill. plant.
"Liberty Packaging, Quad Cities recently announced its plans to centralize its manufacturing and distribution operations in Rock Island, Ill., Polly Filing, Communications Director for Miller Container's parent company, Liberty Diversified International, Inc., told the Journal. "These changes will better align Liberty Packaging, Quad Cities with our sister companies that, with Liberty Packaging, Quad Cities, form Liberty Diversified International’s Packaging North Region.
Filing said the Clinton facility would close permanently in mid-November.
"As a result of this decision, seven positions at the Clinton facility will be eliminated. Employees affected by this announcement are encouraged to apply for open positions at Liberty Packaging’s Rock Island facility or any other available jobs within the LDI family of companies," Filing added. "In addition, all affected employees will be eligible for a severance package, which will include outplacement services.
