CLINTON — Norma J. Sturgeon, 83, of Beason, formerly of Clinton, passed away at 12:18 a.m. on March 30, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Ill.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, with the Rev. Jeff DeLaughter officiating. There will not be a visitation. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Norma J. Sturgeon memorial fund.
Norma was born on November 1, 1934, in Clinton, the daughter of Arthur and Elethelene (Moore) Patterson. She married Thomas W. “Shorty” Sturgeon on July 14, 1951, in Clinton. He passed away on November 20, 2014.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky J Grant, Beason; grandson, Donnie W. Sturgeon, Beason; great-grandchildren Zach Cooley, Decatur, Danielle Sturgeon, Clinton, Billy Sturgeon, Decatur, Ashley Biggs, Clinton, and Tyler Biggs, Farmersville, Ill; great-great grandchild, Noah Masters, Taylorville, Ill.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Loren and Arthur “Butch” Patterson, granddaughter, Donna Jean Biggs, and great-granddaughter, Britney Biggs.
Norma loved reading, old western songs, going square dancing, skating with her husband, camping and horseback riding. She was a member of the DeWitt County Riding Club and was part of the Silver Dollar Rodeo. She was a former corrections officer in Decatur.
