CLINTON — Salt Creek Patchmaker’s Quilt Guild of Clinton held its 24th annual quilt show on April 20 and April 21 at the Little Galilee Christian Camp, south of Clinton with over 100 quilts on display.
The quilt show is attended by a variety of participants from Clinton and the surrounding area. This year’s Viewers Choice was The show has several categories first of which is antique. Winners in this group were first place, , second “Old Fashioned Nine-Square” by Marrita Taylor, and third “Aunt Clary’s Quilt”by Joy Gardner.
Hand Quilted category first place “Dear Jane Revisited” by Norma Reiman, second “ My Favorite Christmas Quilt” by Cheryl Sample and third “Mom’s Irish Chain” by Janet Sutter.
The Small Bed Machine Quilted winners were first place “Dawn to Dusk” by Debbie Darrow, second “ My Garden Quilt” by Kendra Newland, and third “ Julia’s Delight” by Norma Reiman.
The Large, Machine Quilted quilts group first place “ Taylors Quilt “ by Erlene Wilson, second place “Our Hearts Will Go On” by Ilene Tucker, and third to “Love My Batiks” by Merline Hartness.
The Applique, Machine quilted bed quilt category winners were “Carolina Lily” by Linda Crum and “Lighthouses” by Shirley Monkman.
The Wall Hanging category winner was first ”Over the River and Through the Woods” by Beth Glenn, second place “Take Your Pick” by Merline Hartness, and third place” Catch of the Day” by Rose Vessering .
The Minature category which are small versions of large quilts first place “ Little Bits Table Topper” by Arlene Bird, second “ No Work, No Play” by Debbie Darrow, and third “ Gather Ye Rosebuds” by Linda Crum.
The Holiday category always a favorite, winners were first “A Christmas Quilt”by Pat Margenthaler, second “Oh, Christmas Tree’’ by Linda Crum, and third “Peppermint Christmas” by Cathey Bush.
The Crib, Lap Throw” size category winners were first place “Hunters’ Star” by Dee Hill, second “Bugs in a Jar” by Ilene Tucker, and third “Snowball and Nine-Patch” by Ruth Wrigley.
The Clothing category winners were first place “Dresden Apron” by Linda Crum, and “Illini Purse” by Jan Hogan. The Potpourri Category which has a variety of entries, winners were first place “My Tuffet” by Debbie Darrow, second “ Say Cheese” by Teresa Craig, and third place “Festive Flurry” by Jan Hogan.
Many enjoyed a bed turning by guild member Norma Reiman. This small quilt guild has always appreciated the many followers from Clinton and our surrounding area. We enjoy sharing this artistry with all.
The Quilt Guild has an optional challenge yearly for members of the guild. This year’s theme was “Black, White, with a Dot of Red.” The winners were first place ” by Debbie Darrow, second place “ by Linda Crum and third place by Alice Grooms.
The show’s chairman was Cheryl Sample and was enjoyed by many Clinton and surrounding area residents. The Guild is looking forward to making many quilts for all to enjoy next year.
