CLINTON — Peggy E. Reeter, 87, of Clinton, passed away at 2:51 p.m. on January 1, 2019, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 9, 2019, at the First Christian Church, Clinton, with Greg Taylor and Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Private burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be held from from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday January 9, 2019, at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Clinton, Little Galilee Christian Assembly or the DeWitt County Friendship Center.
Peggy was born on July 25, 1931, in Whitehall, Ill., the daughter of William Frances and Fefa Erma (Taylor) Dowdy. She married Charles M. Schmidt on September 29, 1951, in St. Charles, Mo. He passed awayon March 28, 1969. She later married Maurice “Mousey” F. Reeter on May 26, 1973, in Clinton. He passed away on April 21, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Sue) Reeter, Mt. Pulaski and their children Mark, Laura and Sarah; Anita Schmidt, Clinton, and her children Jeremy, Jennifer; Bill Reeter, Florida, and his son Bill; along with 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rhonda Hammer, two brothers, Lloyd Dean and Junior, and two sisters, Elnor and Betty.
Peggy served for 59 years at the First Christian Church. She tutored and volunteered at local grade schools, Faith in Action and served on the board of the DeWitt County Friendship Center. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
