CLINTON — Phillip Dale “Doc” Long, 82, died at Liberty Village, in Clinton, on July 23, 2022.

Phillip was born in Cisco, Ill. on December 9, 1939, to Melvin “Pete” Long and Dorothy (Evey) Long.

He married Janice West on November 22, 1959, a marriage that lasted a few months shy of 63 years.

His parents and granddaughter, Brittney Long, proceeded him in death.

Phil leaves behind his wife, Janice; children- Rodney (Bennye) Long and Lauri (Ed) Torbert; grandchildren, Tara Ptack, Alex and Andrew (Erin) Torbert; great -granddaughter, Wrenn Ptack; brother, Larry (Linda) Long and nephew Doug.

He was a devoted husband and father who always made time to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed going to gospel sings, woodworking, fishing, collecting coins, the Chicago Cubs, and visiting with his wonderful neighbors. We will miss him dearly.

Phillip and Janice moved to Chicago after their marriage. They then relocated back to Clinton in 1966 to manage American Gasket, which they did for many years. Phillip then went to work at Marco Chemical until retirement.

The family is respecting his wishes not to have a service. We will gather at his graveside at a later date.

We would like to thank Liberty Village Bounce Back Rehabilitation and Kindred Hospice for their amazing care and compassion to him during the last stage of his life.

Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice, 205 North Williamsburg Drive, Suite C, Bloomington, IL 61704.
