MAROA — Phillip Lee Dial, 85, of Maroa, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on April 2, 2019, at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur, Ill.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11 Aa.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Phillip Lee Dial memorial fund.
Phillip was born on December 21, 1933, in DeWitt County, Ill., the son of Edward and Ida (Hall) Dial. He married Jacqueline Florimont, of Clinton, and later married Margaret Fombelle, of Maroa.
Survivors include his children, Jack (Gayla) Dial, Waynesville; Tracey Dial, Clinton; Bryan (Yvonne) Dial, Maroa; Darrin (Krista) Dial, Kenney; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Megan, Morgan, Ryland, Mason, Raymi, Carsen, and Lucas, two great-grandchildren, Bentlee and Braxton, brother, Robert (Sandra) Dial, of Tennessee.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Anna Moss, Mary Martin, and Louise Copass, and two brothers, Leland and George.
Phillip served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer and retired from the Illinois Central Railroad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and dancing.
