CLINTON — Phyllis Rae Oakman, 93, of Clinton, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on May 19, 2018, at Manor Court, Clinton.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the Clinton Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tim Doty and J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the children’s program of the Clinton Presbyterian Church.
Phyllis was born on November 11, 1924, in Clinton, the daughter of Ralph and Ada Mae (Nichols) Strange. She married Richard “Bud” Oakman on February 6, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. He passed away on July 30, 1999.
Survivors include her children, Sherry (Matt) Weaver, Pueblo, Colo., and Scott (Lisa) Oakman, Clinton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and brother Kent (Barbara) Strange, Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Andrew Oakman.
Phyllis retired in 1977 as a payroll clerk for the Clinton School District. She was a member of the Clinton Country Club, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a 50-year member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church and an avid bridge player.
