CLINTON — There was another beautiful evening this past week and another baseball game was put in the books.
The (Douglas) Rams 12-under team faced the Central Illinois Prospects team from the Tuscola area. The Prospects have always been a formidable foe as they were in this outing.
The game began with the opposition plating a run in the top of the first inning. The Rams came right back in the inning with two runs on two hits and a couple of Prospects errors.
The second inning saw the Prospects tie the game for a short time with another run. Then, the Rams went wild in the bottom of the second inning plating 6 runs on 3 hits, a walk and another opposition error.
In the third inning, the Prospects added another run to close the gap in the score. In the third inning, the Rams brought in a relief pitcher who was tagged for two more runs by the Prospects, bringing them within 3 runs of the Rams.
In the sixth inning, the Rams added their final run, and the last score of the game, on a single, an error and a passed ball. This gave the Rams the 9-5 win as the Prospects went down on three strikeouts in the 7th inning.
