CLINTON — Although overshadowed by the Maroons’ blazing season, the Lady Maroons racked up plenty of accolades themselves.

The Bloomington Pantagraph’s All Area Girls Basketball Team included Lady Maroon Clara Dempsey as a selection on their Honorable Mention list.  Only 29 players were selected this year with 10 on the first team and the final 19 on honorable mention.  Clara finished her freshman season with 381 points (16th highest total in Clinton High School (CHS) history) while averaging 14.7 points per game over her last 16 games\ of the season.  Her 48 three-point field goals was 6th highest in CHS history.  She also had 130 rebounds, 87 assists and 72 steals.  And there are 3 more years to come.

The Champaign News-Gazette (N-G) also had there All-Area Girls Basketball Team rankings and it included five Lady Maroons.  Along with Dempsey, there were Regan Filkin (So.), Heidi Humble (Jr.), MaKayla Koeppel (Jr.), and Avery Smith (Fr.).  The N-G had four divisions: 1st team, 2nd team, Special Mention, and Honorable Mention.  The Lady Maroons had Demdsey and Filkin in the Special Mention category, while Humble, Koeppel and Smith were listed in the Honorable Mention category.
