CLINTON — In a meeting about the proposed Alta Farms wind energy project Tuesday, the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) voted 3-1 to not recommend the proposal to the zoning board of appeals (ZBA). Two members abstained.
Special use permits are required for Tradewind Energy to proceed with the project. Some residents opposing the project felt the Tradewind proposal did not meet the requirements of the county’s comprehensive plan.
Some RPC members voting against the measure felt all their questions had not yet been answered.
Tradewind hopes to begin construction on the project this year.
A public hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5 at Clinton High School with the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Hearings are scheduled for 5-10 p.m.
