Revolution winds up season in series of games

CLINTON — The Central Illinois Revolution closed out their season this past long weekend with a game against the Central States Spikes on Thursday, and then participated in the Battle in Bourbonnais on Friday through Sunday.

Starting off the whirlwind weekend, the Revolution faced the Central States Spikes from Tolono.  The Spikes took an early 2-run lead in the first inning and never looked back.  Michael Oswald came in to pitch relief for Logan Peterson in the first inning and held the Spikes until the sixth inning, when he was relieved after 2 outs, a Spikes run and the bases loaded.

Gharrett Wayne put out the fire in the sixth inning, but was blasted for 3 runs in the 7th inning to cap the Spikes win over the Revolution 6-0.

The Revolution then headed to Bourbonnais for their usual season ending tournament.  This year was not kind to the Revolution though.

Friday afternoon saw The Revolution lose an early lead to the U-Dawgs in a preliminary game, losing 12-2.

Next up was another preliminary game Saturday morning against the Outsiders Baseball Club.  In this loss, the Revolution scored well, but couldn’t keep up with their opponent who won 13-4.

Then, Saturday afternoon the pool play began, and the Revolution took an early lead against the Triple Crown Threat and held on for a 6-3 win.  With that win the Revolution moved into the second round of the bracket play.

The final game for the Revolution was Sunday against the ESP Red team.  The Revolution made a solid showing against the eventual championship team scoring four runs on 8 hits, but the ESP Red team was the hot team of the tournament winning all of their games handily.

The Central Illinois Revolution end their season at 11-23 and are looking forward to an even better year next season with more experience and practice together as a team.
