WAPELLA — Richard Eugene Underwood, 57, of Wapella, passed away at 12:37 a.m. on May 1, 2018, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Cody Monkman officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Richard was born on November 19, 1960, in Clinton, the son of Charles and Marlene (Laiser) Underwood. Richard married Loritta Chapman on October 20, 1979, Clinton.
Survivors include his father, Charles (Marilyn) Underwood, Wapella; mother, Marlene Spray, LeRoy; children, Tori (Justin) Alexander, Bloomington,; Kaysi (Ryan) Whitlock, Clinton; Janna (Blake Rasor) Underwood, Clinton; eight grandchildren, Tinley and Jude Alexander, Ty, Jakobe and Kraetyn Whitlock; and Mason, Kaybree and Jayda Rasor; sister, Susie (Bobby) Schaefer, DeWitt; special aunt, Jo Schmidt, Bloomington, and one nephew, Asa Schaefer, Kenney.
Richard worked at R.R. Donneley, Clinton. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, weather watcher and enjoyed racing. Richard volunteered at Home Sweet Home for many years.
