RURAL WAPELLA — The annual Rucker Chapel Memorial Day observation will be held at Rucker Chapel, 17533 Ruckers Chapel Rd., rural Wapella, on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m.
A potluck will be held at 12:30 p.m. Gary Simpkins, Heyworth, will speak about on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Farmer City American Legion Post #55 will be in charge of rites in Rucker Chapel Cemetery at 3 p.m. for all of the veterans of all wars buried there.
Rucker Chapel Church was built in 1865 in Wilson Township, DeWitt County, in 1865. It burned down on December 16, 1932, was rebuilt on the same site and dedicated on December 17, 1933.
The congregation will observe the 151st anniversary of the church, which was built in 1865.
