Sharon Doenitz

WAPELLA — Sharon Doenitz, 87, of Wapella, passed away at 2:07 p.m. on September 27, 2023, at Luther Oaks, Bloomington.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton, with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to DeWitt County Museum, Clinton United Methodist Church, or Gentiva Hospice.
Sharon was born on October 10, 1935, in Jerseyville, Ill., the daughter of William and Mabel (Arfsten) Garber. She married Robert Doenitz on November 18, 1956, in Jerseyville.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Doenitz, Bloomington; children, Amanda Doenitz, of California, and Todd (Ellen) Doenitz, of Plymouth, Mich.; five grandchildren Halle (Jackie) Doenitz, Amy (Ryan) Lilly, Maj. Andrew (Breanna) Doenitz, Courtney Doenitz (Mario Macari), and Charles Doenitz; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings William Garber, Barbara Garber, and Richard Garber.
Sharon was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, Land of Lincoln Quilters Guild, DeWitt County Historical Museum, and Salt Creek Patchmakers.
Most of all, Sharon loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her friends and her family in the farming community.
