Sheriff’s office awaiting state police lab results in dog case

CLINTON — Sheriff Mike Walker told the Clinton Journal Tuesday his office was currently waiting for results from Illinois State Police testing of materials related to a local dog death.

On July 1, a resident reported finding a suitcase  emitting a foul odor in a rural area of the county.  Deputies went to the scene and opened the case to discover a deceased dog.

Animal control assisted the sheriff’s office in preserving the animal until testing could be conducted.

Deputies have conducted about 40 interviews in connection with the case.
