DIXON, Ill. — Shirley J. Zeller, age 92, of Dixon, Ill., went to meet her maker August 1, 2017, at Dixon Healthcare and Rehab.  

She was born on April 1, 1925, in Clinton, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Lacy (Privett) Owens.

She worked for Del Monte, in Rochelle, Ill., and Admiral, Head Start, and Dixon Developmental Center, all in Dixon.

Shirley attended Ashton Methodist Church.

Shirley was a friend to everyone and a devoted mother.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a positive outlook on life.

She was preceded in death by five brothers Clyde Privett, Stephen Owens,  Byron Owens, Wilburn Owens, and Robert Owens;  four sisters Bernadine “Jake” Nelson,Opal Spencer, Ruby Willis, Bernadine "Jake" Nelson and Juanita Long.

Survivors include her children Judith Zimmermann of Towanda, John Zeller and Janet Malmberg both of Dixon, Jane Bruce of Polo, Ill., and best friend Donna Rhodenbaugh of Dixon; 10 grandchildren Kraig (Tracy Zimmermann, Bradley (Lula) Zimmermann, and Michael Zimmermann, Alicia Zeller and Andrea (Blaine) Peters, Logan and Lindsay Malmberg, Amy McQuality, Christie (Layne) Pitzer, Lori (David) Kuhfaul;  14 great-grandchildren Matthew and Andrew Zimmermann, Elyssa, Michaela, and Jacob McQuality, Luke Kuhfaul, Nessa Amalyah Zimmermann, and Kane Hart, Nathan, Ella, and Nolan Peters, Victoria “Tori” and Ethan Pitzer, and Brady Jamison Rozinski;  two great great-grandchildren Rueben Zimmermann and Valerie Grace Zimmermann;  two sisters Dorothy Pettit of Waco, Texas, and Nellie Howerton of Clinton;  one brother Thomas Owens of Clinton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 4, at 11 a.m. in the Jones Funeral Home, in Dixon, with Pastor Jack Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, in Polo.  Visitation will be held on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
