CLINTON — The Lady Maroons volleyball team has been struggling this season, and the rainy, dismal evening of October 10, unfortunately, was no different.
The Lady Maroons were not ready for Mahomet-Seymour to let the dogs (Lady Bulldogs) out. The Lady Bulldogs were in competition mode, and Clinton went into defensive mode and were fending off the Lady Bulldogs nipping at their heels all evening.
The freshman team set the tempo of the evening dropping two straight sets to the visitors from the east. The junior varsity then stepped to the court and battled to a first set win but then they dropped two straight sets to the Lady Bulldog opposition.
With the right and left flanks going down in battle the main group from the Lady Maroons’ varsity appeared to have nothing to fight for and also went down in two straight sets. Their were spurts of valor with some good spikes and a few well played volleys, but the Lady Bulldogs had some devastating fire power of their own that was insurmountable.
The Lady Maroons continue to hang in there.
