CLINTON — Spencer Jeffrey Toohill, 17, of Clinton, departed this life on March 22, 2018.
Spencer was a junior at Clinton High School, where he was active in CHS band and CHS theater. Known for his inclusive personality and contagious laugh, he was an avid Cardinals fan and instrumental in the growth of The Vault teen and community center, in Clinton. Those closest to Spencer knew him as a genuine and caring friend, who could always make you smile with a big hug or a joke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Fr. James Henning, the Rev. Fr. Jeff Stirniman, Deacon Todd Weber, and Deacon John Leonard, celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at the First Christian Church, Clinton, with Rosary service at 3:30 p.m.
Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the Clinton High School band or the Clinton High School thespian troop 3151.
Spencer was born on January 18, 2001, in Normal, Ill., son of Jeffery and Kimberlee (Torbert) Toohill.
Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Kim Toohill, Clinton: brother Parker J. Toohill, Clinton; maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Torbert, Clinton; paternal grandparents, Martin “Pete” and Sally Toohill, Clinton; aunts and uncles Randy (Cathy) Toohill, Wapella; Jackie (Jamie) Deffenbaugh, Normal; Greg (Jennifer) Toohill, LeRoy; Tara (Paul) Wanserski, Monticello; cousins Anna Michelle Toohill, Kevin Toohill, Max Deffenbaugh, Pete Deffenbaugh, Natalee Wanserski, Thomas Toohill, Caroline Toohill, and Luke Deffenbaugh.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jerry L. Toohill.
