CLINTON — Summer is upon us, and the baseball and softball leagues have begun their seasons to an on again - off again start because of the rainy weather.

Even some make-up games were cancelled due to the downpours.  

The Clinton Youth Baseball travel team, the Rams, was able to get in a game against the Lincoln Aces of the Open Arms Christian Fellowship.  The Aces began the game with a run in the first, but were topped in the bottom of the inning by the Rams 5-run spurt.  In the fourth inning, the Aces added another run to close the gap.  With pitching changes, the Rams were not able to add to their score and the Aces exploded in the fifth with seven runs to ice the game.  The Aces won 9-5.

Next up was a Clinton Girls Softball Association game pitting the DeWitt Savings Bank Maroon team against the visiting Maroa-Forsyth Garner-Hodley Auto Body team.  

 This league puts everyone on the field on defense at different positions during the game so they can learn all the positions.  Then all players bat each inning, and they are at bat until they hit the ball.  

Unfortunately the second game of the evening was cancelled due to a surfeit of H2O, aka, a torrential downpour.
