CLINTON — The county’s land use committee voted unanimously on Monday to recommend the county board hire Tech Environmental to conduct a post-construction sound study of the Alta Farms II wind project.

Former zoning administrator Aaron Paque and county board chairman Terry Ferguson recommended the firm in February 2021.  Jim Griffin, attorney for Enel Green Energy, told land use committee members on Monday that his company endorsed the selection of Tech for the study.

“We’re asking for the committee to recommend approval of Tech Environmental as the consultant to perform the post-construction sound study,” Griffin said.

Committee member Aaron Kammeyer said he was in favor of using Tech, citing the company’s use of its own, originally-gathered data rather than already existing data.

Paque reported in February that Tech would isolate any external sounds to gather the best information.

“You’re going to be able to get the most accurate results,” he said.

Committee member Melonie Tilley said she could not remember the company’s qualifications or what Tech was proposing to do.

The Journal reported in February that Tech’s study would be more specific in its details and in the time periods used to take sound measurements.
