CLINTON — On June 24, the American Legion Post 103, Clinton, will sponsor two sophomores, Lucas Hardwick and Travis Quinn, from Clinton High School, to attend the 45th Annual American Legion Youth Police Program.
The primary purpose of the Youth Police Program is to establish an interpersonal relationship between the youth of Illinois and law enforcement officers in order to create a better understanding of the problems and attitudes of both groups and to develop a rapport between youth and the police.
Thanks to a donation by a fellow Legionnaire, the Post was able to send two students this year. The cost is $250 per person, paid for by the sponsoring Post. Last year, the Post was able to send one student.
Clinton American Legion is interested in continuing participation in the program for students ages 14-16 and seek those who would like to support the effort. Anyone interested may contact Josh Thielen at (217) 520-9823 or email crang.bennett@gmail.com.
Graduation for the event will held on June 29 at Camp Lincoln Regional Training Center, Springfield.
