CLINTON — The first honor flight of the year occurred on April 3.
Honor Flights take veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the various war memorials and monuments in that area. All who have gone say they have been greatly moved by the experience and by the response given them from their respective communities.
There were two local men from the Vietnam era on this flight, Mike Cover and Gary Thompson. Upon their return they were met by fellow veterans, members of the community, and many EMS, Fire and Police Departments (even in the cold, windy, rainy weather).
Streets were lined with flags (as well as their yards) and the local Honor Guard was set up with their trailer to welcome them home.
