CLINTON — On Thursday, April 6, Monmouth College picked up two more of Clinton High School’s student athletes. Both are members of the Lady Maroons track, and field teams and one is also a member of the cross-country team.
First to sign was Julia Sterr, daughter of Sue and Mark Sterr. Julia is going to continue her running at Monmouth and will be studying core curriculum with a pre-med emphasis. Julia is looking to continue her studies later in medical school to become a pediatrician. Julia chose Monmouth because of its more stringent coursework than other schools she visited. Julia will continue her cross-country running as well as running track.
The Lady Maroons’ second signee of the day was Shae Wright, the daughter of Melissa and Derrick Wright. She will also be running track for the “Flying Scots.”
Shae is entering the elementary education field to become an elementary school teacher. Shae chose Monmouth because of its smaller campus. Other schools she visited seemed overwhelming. She, and Julia, felt that Monmouth students, coaches, and faculty gave them mre support in their endeavors.
Shae also said that Monmouth was far enough away from home ...but not too far.
