CLINTON — After a rough outing against the highly-rated St. Teresa Bulldogs (a 50-0 Maroon loss),the Maroons football team came home to face the 3-3 Central A&M Raiders in a conference battle.
The Maroons needed to get back on track after two tough losses. The first quarter showed promise that the game would be interesting and winnable. The second quarter seemed to stun the Maroons as the Raiders scored two more unanswered touchdowns to enter halftime up 18-6 over the home squad.
The home team came out flat in the third quarter allowing two more opposition touchdowns before scoring one of their own to enter the fourth quarter down 31-12.
Clinton then found their game late in the final quarter, scoring twice in the final 3 minutes of the game on a touchdown and a field goal.
With 27.3 seconds left, the Maroons then kicked and recovered an on-side kick but were unable to convert this into another score to tie the game.
Maroons fell to the Raiders 31-23
