Kids event in September
Children of all ages are invited to special events at the Vespasian Warner Public Library during the month of September.
Toddler Time for little ones from birth through 36 months is held every Friday morning at 10 a.m. The children enjoy short stories and action/movement songs during the program that lasts about 25 minutes.
Preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, will have three storytimes this month. The children will listen to stories, make a craft, and enjoy a special activity each week. On Monday, Sept. 10, the theme will be “Play Ball!” Sept. 17’s event will be all about “Giraffes” and we’ll have the hydraulic lift in the Children’s Room for those preschoolers who want to get a giraffe’s eye view! We’ll celebrate autumn during “Fall Fun” on Sept. 24. All storytimes begin at 10:30 a.m. and last 30 to 40 minutes.
Kindergarteners and 1st graders are invited to “Seal It! Stamp It! Send It!” on Thursday, Sept. 13. This event will focus on letters, envelopes, stamps, and mail.
We hope to see plenty of 2nd and 3rd graders on Thursday, Sept. 20 to “Explore Light & Shadow.” The children will make unique portraits of themselves to take home.
For the first time we are offering a “Tooling Foil” art class for students in 4th through 8th grade. This event will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 27.
All afterschool programs are held from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. in the top floor Activity Room. Courtesy preregistration is appreciated.

Create a Keepsake at the library
Get your creative juices flowing with a mini-book workshop at the Vespasian Warner Public Library District on Saturday, October 13 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 pm. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned crafter, this class is sure to impress.
Each participant will make a mini-book to take home and learn to create flip-up pages, flip-out pages, waterfall pages, and pocket pages. The end result is a stunning keepsake that can be filled with special memories. Books can be used as scrapbooks, photo albums, recipe books, gift books, and more. Additional techniques will also be demonstrated to allow participants to design more extravagant mini-books at home.
The Create a Keepsake Mini-Book workshop is free and open to those ages 18 and above. Seating is limited and preregistration is required for this event. For more information or to register, please call (217) 935-5174.
